They are in charge of making sure the published material has proper grammar, spelling, house style, and tone. Subeditors ensure that the text is appropriate for the intended audience and factually accurate.

They may also contribute to the overall page design, write headings and captions, and organize the story on the page. Subediting is a demanding profession that requires constant attention to detail in a fast-paced work environment, just like other journalism industries.

Accountabilities

A qualified subeditor needs to be a specialist with knowledge of media law, a sharp eye for detail, and a capacity to immediately put together an editorial.
